    I have just spent the last 2 nights reading through your build and all I can say is wow CAV!!!!!

    My hat comes off to you.

    So I am about to set off on a similar journey however not as hard core!!!

    I have a few questions for you all :)

    My Plans: VS LSA & T56 Combo.

    How big of a KFrame space will be required to reframe from utilising the group a toilet seat?

    Will engineers sign off with KFrame spacers?

    Do you have a link to the caddie hats ?

    Parts I am currently thinking of using

    * tuff mounts thoughts?

    * Pacies, thoughts?

    * Astra power steering thoughts?

    *  Gearbox mounts?

    * Starter relocation kit brands? ( I will be running p/s)

    * W2A pump Brand recommendation

    * Electrical A/c pump, any recommendations

     

    I Will definitely use PWR rad & Heat exchanger & Vz booster and master.

    Lastly if I am reading this correctly you will be engineering this as N/A?

    My 2 cents.

     

    1. If ur tuner could only get 5hp when tuning compared to come single throttle tune sack him and find a real tuner

    2. Biggest issue with grp a intake is air box. Install lp intake and u will gain 20 – 30 Hp…

     

    How could it have lost power and then only gained 5 Hp????

    hope he gets it sorted and enjoys it.

     

    for the record my GTS had a single throttle tune in mine and I was lucky as was lean as fuck…

    Isn’t that what I said few posts ago??? :)

     

    Disconnect secondary throttle link and u will get power increase and that will prove theory.

     

    Get kalmaker tune done….

    390rwhp with a stock chip on 24 deg time doesn’t sound right mate. That at sort of power it would be fair grumpy motor.

     

    remember its 383 which makes a massive difference…

    24 deg sounds OK.

    take the cover off the memcal and message me eprom number. No way making that sort of power with std come chip…..

    I would look at the following.

    * Leak down test

    * Dizzy

    * remove rocker covers and inspect

    * TPS

    * remove second throttle linkage.

    I know this may sound like a smart ass but did you fry clutch and that’s why you cant spin tyres….

    Don’t do a comp test do a drop down test as this will check top and bottom of each cylinder.

    HI MAte,

    ONLY LSx ECU can adjust speedo….

    VN- VP Direct feed

    VR  + Pass thru unless its LSx

    I am tipping new diff has 3.9 as that would make it 30% out.

    Jaycar box is the way to go put it on the Purple / white wire on dash side of plug.

    Also to get OBD2 plug going ensure black/ red (Diag Port DATA    ECU = A8)  and white /  black ( Diagnostic Port   ECU = A9)  wires on ecu loom and main loom line up. balance of wires are part of dash loom.

    Based on the below I think your problem is COME sent an off the shelf tune which wasn’t written for GRP A manifold.

    Second throttle opens around 4 – 4500 so extra air maybe what killing it… what I would do is disconnected the little plate that opens the secondary and see if this improves the power slightly….

    According to your tuner is it running rich or lean ? if it is a no group a tune it would run lean to the max after 4,500….

    I had the same problem….. $1250 on a kamaker tune with knock sensor  is the best $$ you could spend..

    A lot of people dyno tune car on dyno ie timing etc but memcal isn’t modded.

    So put a new coolant temp sensor in it and new O2 sensor in it, checked the cats too and no issue. Ran it up on the dyno. 301rwhp. No difference. Pulled the chip out, look what we find a COME chip. No surprises really. Read off the chip and its 10yrs old or more, has all the knock stuff turned off (yet the motor has knock sensor and its all hooked up) and the total timing is set at 24deg. This is when I start to get a little pissed off as I was told the car had a dyno tune every year to keep it at the top of its game. The chip is locked and can’t be overwritten and is clearly a stock off the shelf chip. So we start adding timing, more and more and more and the thing will not make any power. it

    If you take leather off it is a T5 knob wrapped in leather.

    Where is the sensor mate?

    Side of thermostat housing it’s the 2 wire sensor….

    Also check roller rocker adjustment…

    Yeah they put a timing light on it and it had 20deg. Not sure what figure it should be. Dyno guy reckoned 28 or something. Ill throw a full set of sensors at it and a new dizzy whilst also checking for collapsed cats etc. as Cav suggests will them do a compression test and see if it’s down on Comp. The thing that I can’t get my head around is could a sensor really affect levels that much to be that far down.

     

    Yes if coolant sensor is fucked it retard engine and will over fuel engine massively.

    Replace O2 Sensor and ECU coolant sensor as this happened to mine….

    Car has sat around and hardly been driven……

    would run like a massive pig id it was dizzy as timing would be massively out…

    Great work. I myself have done a V6 to V8 conversion and it is a lot of hardwork making it look mint…. :)
