That’s better. I was meaning the mobile layout where it all cascades under the one menu button, the main bit of the site – the forum – doesn’t expand as a matter of course.

So to many the nested sub menu under the most important thing is hidden, showing latest post, members, garage, sponsors, etc., not really obvious where the forum and more detail is.

Perhaps the nested options under Forum should cascade open with main menu.

The ideal combo from GM right now would be the ATS-V (Alpha platform), and apparently it will be here in a few years.

It is a three litre twin turbo:

For me the last line sums it up: “I wanna hear a V8”.

So given the evolving national code of practice, specifically LA1 regarding power to weight, I reckon it’d be a safe bet for Holden to fast track a twin turbo (APS for eg) version fitted with the L83 Ecotec3 as the 5.3l direct injected, VVT and TT.

Sure it’d have a lot of the Caddy fruit but a stripped version would fit my vision of the 2020 Torana!

Guys I’ve run flex coming up four and a half years now, used around 20kl, 180k km driving rural highways mainly.

Being an existing contributor to exise tax as a wine and spirits producer / wholesaler I’ve looked into aspects of compliance for extending business to sustainable ethanol from biomass, and can assure you production and wholesale of eligible exise-free commercial alcohol is not cost prohibitive.

Rather it is independent retail channels, PR / perception (no thanks to Big Oil) and hence demand which are issues.

Inter capital touring eastern seaboard is no problem using flex, and inland the only leg of a trip from Brisbane to Barossa that has no high octane (including flex) is basically across the Hay Plain through Mildura. In fact the only major trek without flex was Broken Hill through Cobar.

In rebuilding the motor in my Gen IV to capitalise on the efficiency offered by flex, I collected a library of good technical information which I will post in my build shortly.

One fundamental misunderstanding is that for peak performance the ethanol fraction in fuel needs to be as high as possible. In most scenarios 50% ethanol achieves the same result, meaning effective knock-free range is at least 1000km between flex pumps, topping up with (any) petrol near halfway.

Another is that consumption in litres per 100k is the only yardstick of value, yet when the accountant speaks it is ¢ per km.

My revised budget with the rebuild is 10¢ per km B-)

Followed Gary’s posts on Just Commodores, some fools in administration there too.

Learned about this new forum and the demise of SC on FaceBook, watched the input and planning grow through prototyping. One of the first to become a supporter.

Four years on JC with its non-enthusiast editorial police (moderators) came to a head recently. Looking forward to informed banter and enthusiast camaraderie here on Commodores Plus (C+).

Hi mate, welcome.  Your ute looks great, looking forward to more shots too.

Also would be good if you could bring over the puddle lamp How-to and pics for Gen IV owners.

Shit that looks like a lot of car for the money! I’m looking for a ute later in the year to toe the kart trailer, you have me thinking too

Yeah I didn’t know I wanted one until I looked at the prices… Cross 8 Crewman starts at $8500 get one with around 100k km on clock for $15k…

AWD crew cab LS1, what gives, is there some major issue with them?

Hi mate, saw this on Aussie V8s earlier tonight, if you are using United e85 it’s probably not a long term residue. Notify and change the supplier.
I’ve run flex exclusively for five years, 180k km which is close to 20,000 litres of ethanol and never had this issue on close inspection. Quite the opposite.
It may be the pump / tank at the petrol station, given you are 100% certain your car’s entire ethanol supply system is compatible.
I read that U.S. corn-derived ethanol can leave a gum residue, but not United’s Sorghum distillery out at Dalby. So I think is the retail supplier.

Only thing I am not a fan off is this obsession car makes have to put some totally useless plastic cover over the motor. Looks like it might be a vice looking motor visually if it were bare.

Wow Gary, you must be excited – that’s like an engineer’s equivalent to the Summernats hoon cry “Show us your [rockers], luv!”

Wine negociant, producer, wholesaler, retailer and drinker.

Originally thought I was to be an architect then a computer scientist then a publisher then a movie producer.

Travelled around, realised there was more to life, food, wine, now skiving off a winery business I started ten years ago.

Sort of related, but having the ability to go directly to a “subscribed” subset – be it following members or sub forum or topic – would be great.

Sort of like a favourites filter.

As an extension to make life easier it would be good to have the reverse function – hide / unfollow member or sub forum or topic – so content is custom to member interest.

Maybe something to consider given your constraints is to crossover 6+8 and 3+7 (merge prior so 2 x 2″ over and under) after bell before trans pan

Ive done initial calcs and not only would segment lengths suit your engine spec better, but also reduce noise, and allow space for a decent expansion chamber before cats.

Also perhaps the 3″ axle back is taxing your escape velocity, given primary pipe cross section at port?

Either that or replace H with X at the calculated position (second harmonic wave length) to smash the split plane double pulse for sonic scavenging and reduce db.

Ca’an mate, mock it up in solid works!
