    Spare Parts Sales/2IC at Burson. Wanted to be a Mechanic or Electrician when I was at school. Pretty happy where I have landed though. Wasn’t one to get good grades in school, although Tech studies was always one subject I did well in.

    I’ve done a bit of everything
    * 4 apprenticeship + another 7 years as a qualified car mechanic
    * lugging produce into shipping & aircraft containers for a perishable logistics company
    * computer consumables salesman
    * worked at a dealer as a clerk ordering new cars/organising accessories to be fitted etc
    * Australia Post/Decipher sorting business mail at stupid early hours of the morning
    * Motor Assessor at NRMA

    And currently (for the last 7 years) work for Department of Transport as a ‘Transport Inspector’. Yeah yeah…. I sometimes defect cars. But our region mainly concentrates on heavy vehicles

    Was this the job I thought I’d be doing when I was at school ? Not even close
    Although I did want to work as a mechanic. Believe it or not my dream was to drive and work on Commodores.  So I achieved that, and soon realised being a mechanic was a dead end job that payed shit – hence I eventually got off the tools and tried just about every other job….

    did motor trimming apprenticeship but now work on truck seats; mechanical and pneumatic stuff so it’s always interesting, even if *some* drivers are far from pleasant to talk too.

    Diesel Mechanic. Working in a, mainly truck workshop currently. Wouldn’t mind working on machines but love where I am at the moment.

    When I was at school I was thinking of following my dad’s foot steps as an accountant but I can’t sit still so that was out of the question.

    Work in IT as a Systems Administrator. Have held a range of jobs in the past – pallet stacker at TNT Express, landscape co-ordinator (glorified hole digger) for a local government agency, part-time call center operator (not the kind that calls your house, actually the kind that takes calls from lonely ladies!), property manager for the state housing department (got some stories from that place!!!), and various other IT roles.

    I work in warehousing for a performance boat manufacturing company, and as a mechanic in my spare time.

    Much prefer mechanic work though. Originally wanted to be a fighter pilot in the RAAF, but took the easy way out cos I was lazy then lol.

    Wine negociant, producer, wholesaler, retailer and drinker.

    Originally thought I was to be an architect then a computer scientist then a publisher then a movie producer.

    Travelled around, realised there was more to life, food, wine, now skiving off a winery business I started ten years ago.

    Naturally as-pirated, all-motor.

    Well what I wanted to do was be in the NSW fisheries, but that went down the drain so I pretty much wasted year 11 and 12 so did my fitting trade after that and ended up in fitting gas wellheads.
    We’re all in it for the money so all ended well haha
