Bonnet looks good, can you grab a pic side on to show where it goes over the rear vents? Mine doesn’t look right so I want to compare it. Also, any pics of how your trans cooler lines are running and how it’s mounted behind the bar?

Well, the time had come to get my ass in gear and finally paint this Streetclass Fibreglass cowl done by Jake Holmes.

It’s 4″ and has been smoothed underneath the cowl. Came up killer!

I think you live around the corner from a work mates place, he know’s your car. He has a silver 4 door HK, i think it is. What’s the plans once you run a 10.4?

Oh really? I’m in the Berwick Views estate in Beaconsfield. Can’t say i know the car i’m sorry

If i had the cash and the balls to hack it up i’d love a crank driven ProCharger and have it setup like the o.g. murdernova.

But in reality it’ll stay n/a. Probably dart block, 427ci, bit comp, e85 etc. but, thats in years to come fingers crossed.

    <span style=”line-height: 24px;”>

Nice! Try it with larger air filter or without it to see if it gains that last 10th you want in top end..a scoop with isolation plate would probably get it there but would ruin how it looks now. Cool to see it driven & raced.Well done mate.

    </span>

I was thinking the same about the filter, after watching the Engine Master episode where they test air filters a bigger filter may unleash the last few HP.

Its definitely an interesting theory. Size is mainly suited towards carburetted applications i am told.

I race with a k&n 9×4 with open top with no filter oil.

I believe for me that extra 10th lies in the the front shocks. way too much up ^ going on in the front end.

looks cool in pic though haha

dam nice time ,just out of curiosity the vk I had (manual) had 361 rwkw so 483 rwhp I never got to run the 1/4 mile ( got stolen) what would be a rough idea for a 1/4 mile time with that power , I know a lot comes into it but just a guess

I really couldnt tell you man, im unfortunately not a numbers guy haha.

that’d be a 9 with an auto at my guess.

Well, on the 12th November we did what we set out to do with the car.

    it ran a 10.50 @ 129mph.

the video below has a footage of the pass at the 10:00 min mark.

I’ll try and get it to run a 10.4-something then call it a day with this motor.

Well, it was a with a heavy heart i had to say goodbye to my first car Elsa.
The go everwhere car that has pretty much been everywhere and done everything!
It was a very memorable 200,000km’s over the 10 years at that,
But, it was time to ‘let it go’.
    Thanks Elsa

Had an absolute ball at the Allsparks Performance Dyno day.

I have always wanted to do one, but had always had a broken car  :negative:

Anyway, a best run of 310rwkw then a re tighten of the straps and we are at 304.9rwkw on the 2nd pull.

The vl is still where is needs to be which is killer.

Massive shout out to Frank, Zammit, Chirks, Gordy and Christian for making us feel at home. It was a pleasure to come down and support Frank and Allsparks Performance. You are all gentleman  :good:

I honestly don’t think you will get into issues with the tunnel for the 6L80e, vb-vk had a much larger tunnel . A th350-400 for examle will fit with no modification.

    It

s Vl’s that have a problem. as they have the smallest tunnels out of them all [were never supposed to be v8’s]. Some how they wedged a trimatic in there though with mm to spare haha.

    Should be good man.

My 2c, i recon still go ahead with brock/ss replica but paint it a different colour to Formula Blue.

Imagine Vw’s Limestone grey with blacked out chrome [on bars, handels, antenna surround, weather strips] and black ss decals. Would look phat as!

Looks like it’s really starting to come together now dude. Will go harder next time at drags.

    Thanks man :good:

Hopefully man! We are looking at trying to chase a 10.4. If i get that then i’ll probably call it a day with racing.

Y think there will be a diff ratio change to make it ultimately happen [from 3.9 to 4.11]

Killer bro. Its going to launch something savage with the new box and diff. I might try get down to that allsparks dyno day and say hello

Definitely, if it 1.50’s in the ’60 we’re on!

Definitely man! Been a long time since i saw you [May 5th? i think it was] it’ll be an awesome day.

I have alot of time for the allsparks boys

Friday the 6th of October i decided to put the Vl on the rollers at Stout Automotive.

Go see them if you need a tune! They are absolute gentleman.

Anyway, It was a good way to see improvements after my BIG transmission and diff dilemma.

The dyno being the same figures wise as the last place i buzzed it up showed a 12rwkw increase for a working diff and a working trans which is a good day in my book!

Absolutely hanging to race it now!

Just 1 more dyno day to support Frank at All Sparks.

If you are in the area drop past and see this nugget grace his rollers.

The boys! Matt, Steve, Brad and Shane. Matt [Hollywood] is hiding somewhere as well

September 24th the event organiser asked me to attend the Annual Vl Cruise at the Docklands. So, when you are invited you turn up! I brought my good friend Matt Smoors along for the ride.

I definitely have never seen soo many vl’s in one place.

I definitely felt out of place with a Naturally Aspirated LS2 swapped vl. but, it did bring alot of the right attention which is cool!

    here are some pics:
