So I’m goin to start learning how to tune my car

For those that don’t know it’s a worked holden 355 with v7ysi blower that is running a LS1 ECU

Not build a whole tune just small changes as needed to get better drivability and stuff over time and fix things if I make small changes to vehicle

I dont want the hand held, I want to go all out on a full tuning software for a lap top

I am leaning towards EFI live

Anyone link me to usefull things to read watch and study ??

I have a full zietronix data logging system with O2 wide band with EGT witch I can upgrade to dual wide band and EGT and also does full data logging of obd2

Not getting into the whole EFI Vs HPT I’ve used/owned both and prefer EFI’s hardware.

    Thanks very much

Yes agreed, I don’t want any VS battle either

But from my reading I agree, efi live seams to be the one that is advised to use

I’m not really after advice on witch one to choose, to be honest I’m all ready pretty sold on efi live

I’m more after advise and links on how to use it

The EFI Live forum is a good place to start, the learning curve is steep but the guys are very helpful and once it’s all set up you can do wonders in minutes!

The Black Box logging function is brilliant as it logs to an SD Card, do a log get home pull the file then in the comfort of your PC Chair sit and “tune” your file, load it onto the SD card load it into the car and go.

Yes I seen the forum there, I’ll go sign upto it

And the once it’s set up can do wonders is the part I’m after

I like the sound of that logger

I would see how my dat logger goes as it has wide band and EGT on it’s data along with all info from obd2 and can pick it’s parts to fix form that,

I see more and more people doin home tuning so it carnt be to hard to learn if one is keen to do so and has some brains between the ears

Yep that’s what I use, no one knows it all but collectively the guys on the Forum are a great resource and very helpful, there’s a few FB Groups as well that have some very cluey people involved.

I use efi live myself its very good and you have custom os for

nitrous and forced induction as well as logging to the hand held unit

via sd card, very hand at the drags.

Efi live forum has tones of info.

Yeah awesome, it really is something I want to get into and learn more about

so if I got it tuned and a shop uses say LS edit or HPTuners, I can still use, axcess, data log and fine tune all the features using efi live correct ??

Or or am I much better of getting a tuner that uses efi live (witch won’t be a problem as so many use it)

If it’s a stock OS then yes you can fiddle afterwards, if they use a custom OS in another format they’re not cross compatible.

What I usually do if I need work done by a pro is take my own EFI Live along that way you only end up paying for one lot of credits for that car.

    Yeah ok

I’ll get my tuner to use my efi live with my credits for sure

I really don’t think I’ll be using a factory LS style OS of any sort (operating system, correct me if I’m wrong)

not using a LS ecu to run a 5L based engine

it uses 2 by LS style O2 senosor, but does not use a relocter wheel, some how it gets it’s cam location of the Hall effect sensor, all other sensors are holden 5L type

it does not run sequential injection and does not run 8 coils, ingition runs from ecu to a Bosch igniter (that replaces ingition modual)  and that converts the ecu possitive trigger to a high voltage negative trigger witch I can run my MSD 6al ingition then coil and dizzy like holden does

You would want to talk to the guys that did the conversion to ls1 ecu and see what OS is in use before buying a tuning package that maybe can’t tune it.if it’s tuned with HPT and you buy efilive and can’t tune it would suck
