I think a lot of it is trying to work with what I have and not remake all of the complex parts…

    Ahhh got ya..

    —————–

One step forward two steps back..

Had a shit nights sleep, woke at 2:45 and didn’t get back to sleep till 6:00…

Was thinking about the steering pump, bzzzz DOH, back to plan (random letter) I’ll have to use an Astra electric pump..

The one forward was installing the roof vent..

Second Step back is I’m building a new set of custom headers as nothing off the rack will go close, I have the forward facing V Band turbo set here cheap if anyone wants them!

Just as a matter of interest I weighed the Powertrain, 278kg Engine, Blower, Trans and Transfer case. Alternator and engine mounts, these are dry weights but even so much better than expected, I was thinking 400+..

Happy Anniversary to you both!  :yahoo:

I’m tipping BMW never considered mounting a 280 kg 600hp engine from their .8mm chassis rails…

I resisted the urge to go full retard and instead of the 6mm plate my gut was telling me I went with 4mm, trying NOT to turn this one into an overweight Battle Cruiser..

Wow, thats quite an engineering feat by BMW to get the stiffness they are renowned for with only .8. Neat job though buddy.

There are no doublers anywhere in the chassis, no wonder they break so often…

    Engine mounts done!  ;-)

Camera angles and optical illusions… Was looking at the pic and had a mild panic thinking I’d screwed the passenger side engine mount..

The reason I didn’t reuse the Lexcen mounts apart from being huge and heavy was there wasn’t room for the front driveshaft.

Quick test fit and it’s all good!

That’s going to be almost sports sedan with weight balance isn’t it?  That diff is of course the front axle line? Going to be awesome .

I think I can get the distribution a perfect 50/50, will just need to juggle small parts inside the car, the bulk of the mass will be within the wheelbase, something I could never do with the Lexcen  B-)

Been down tweaking the engine position, while I was there something Craig said yesterday had me curious, after I clocked the Transfer Case it intrudes on the passenger side floor..

I checked, there’s still enough room for the scare chair! It will be a bit further forward than ideal but ride days will be more about fun than setting fast times..
