Now the Senators done its time to start thinking about my next project.  So I have had my 1960 split window Kombi in a shipping container at my in-laws for about a year, yesterday we went out and brought it home.  Very exciting, going to be a bit of a different build, just a nice cruiser, 2.4L VW motor, air bags, white over metalic orange.  This one I want to try and do everything, so its going to be a very steep learning curve on body repair  :-)

Wow, how good is that! I did the 3D CAD work for FLI355 who I know has copped some flack for basically having a go.  But anyhow payment was one of the prototypes. It arrived today (thanks mate) couldn’t wait tonight and turned up an adapter out of some scrap and tapped it to fit the B&M shaft. Absolutely love it, almost factory looking now with a twist :good:

could always make it a naws button but you would need another gauge to monitor the welds on the manifold hehe

No pic is deceiving, I didn’t have time to take a decent pic out in the open, at some stage I will :)

Agreed, it’s one of the reasons for bringing the Kombi home now, I want to try and resist doing stuff to the Senator and just enjoy it for a while.  If I get the car urge the plan is for the energy to go into the Kombi, and reserve the Senator for fun cruises and blowing tyres off it when I feel like it :good:

Made up the correct adapter today, turned it up out of some brass bar.  So the male thread is M10x1.25 to match the knob, and the threaded bore is 1/2-20 UNF.  Worked perfectly.  I like the knob, because it’s a little longer it just gives you a slightly longer lever arm so its not quite as hard to bump it through the gears.

Beautiful cruise down the coast to Dads at Glenelg via Jetty road of course with Suesy.  Stayed there for a couple of hours, and then just a gentle cruise home. Its about 35 degrees maybe over here, no issues at all.  Went past a Chevy group having a bbq, prob a dozen or so Camaros and Vettes. Slowed down and gave it a brief stab and lit it up as you do and got a huge roar of approval, cool as, even Suesy smiled a little. Soooo much fun driving it now.

That’s why we build them. How’s it go in the heat? Did you shroud your pwr?

No its not shrouded. No issues with temp at all (so far) but I do have the engine oil cooler system.

WOOOOW!!!! That is the coolest thing ever…..

You don’t have to answer coz it’s rude to ask, but how much is a unit like that? And what materials can you print with?

I see some very cool things being made on that baby

$$ is secret mens business (joke) this is it here http://core-electronics.com.au/lulzbot-taz-5-3d-printer.html   Its one of those things where it depends on what you want.  The big issues are size it can print, detail, and materials.  Mine is a Lulzbot Taz 5, was voted best printer of 2015 by a couple of mags, will basically print as large as a motorcycle helmet, down to a layer thickness of less than 0.1mm.  Perfect for a variety of custom car parts ;-)
