    Couple of posts on another thread got me thinking. One things that irritates me is some of the stuff non car people say about either your car or your build.

    One of my absolute pet hates is;

    “Really, your mean your only making that much power, my mates mate has a VE SS making that with only a cam change and a retune”

    And the other one just behind it is;

    “Really, you mean it took you the whole week end just to do that?”

    “You need to get rid of that thing and get something newer ?”

    My response – Why ? It was paid off years ago, owes me nothing, still looks OK, goes OK, sounds OK, its no less reliable than most other cars & insurance is not a lot. How does that compare to your expensive new car that is depreciating like buggery while costing a motza in monthly payments that has no charisma ?

    wife: you spend so much money and time on that thing, it must be the most unreliable car in the world if you need to work on it so much.

    Me: it’s not broken, i’m just tinkering with it.

    wife: why do you need to mess with it if there’s nothing wrong with it?

    Me: why do you have 15 pairs of shoes?….

    Yes, I suppose it is brave, but I probably paid for most of them, so she can’t really complain…

    The point really is that if you quiz anyone enough, you’ll find they have a passion/hobby that they spend silly amounts of time/money on. Just because we happen to love cars doesn’t make it weirder than collecting stamps or shoes or football memorabilia.
