This is my 96 VS Clubsport. Have got some good plans but a lack of $$ and time (3 Boys 3 and Under will do that to ya haha). Very slow moving project but one day it’ll get there.

Currently mad stock appart from ultra low springs n short shocks.

Just been trying to clean up a few things.

Nice project mate, looks like a pretty straight example to start with.

Looks like a very neat car to start with. Good luck with it.

Thanks guys, yeah I was stoked when I picked it up a few years back.

Now its a struggle to find time to spend on it. I have had the motor ready to come out for about 3 weeks now and just have had no time to go and borrow crane from a mate and actually pull it out.

Roger that, finding spare time and money is the issue, especially when life starts taking over. Very nice base car to start with though, will be a beautiful cruiser. I love these early HSV’s, just have a touch of class I reckon :)

So found a spot for my gauges,  thought it was a perfect fit until I tried to put it back in the car, doesn’t quite fit. Time for some modification lol.

Na, AC is not important to me. I drive with my windows down all the time. And this will never be a daily. I’m gunna leave all the AC boxing in there but will never get used.

    Thanks for the comments man.

Since my Stato dash install, my ac hasn’t been used either. So… I might steal your idea! Maybe…

Yeah go for it mate, it only came about because i was thinking of putting the gauges there (want to try and put a double din h/u in the dash) and a mate said “will the gauges fit in the holes for the controls?”, pulled it out and they did, perfectly. I will be make some adjustments tonight to see if I can get it to fit back in the car properly but should be sweet.

Only thing I have found with gauges down there (mine are in the slot under the radio) is they are really not the easiest to see at a glance when driving. May not be an issue to you, but just thought i would mention it.

This is how I did mine, not sure about where you are but here you have to have a functioning demister or defect. May not be an issue to you though.

yeah that looks alright hey, I was originally gunna put them there but have decided I want to get a double din h/u in.

As for demister, this wont be road registered for a while and once it is I will only be driving it to go to shows and the occasional Sunday cruise, cops here wont really have a problem with it, plus most of them wouldn’t even notice something like missing a demister switch. and if it ever does become a problem, I still have all the original parts I can throw back in.

The only way you will fit a double din head unit in a vs is if you hack up the heaterbox or remove it completely.

    Nice work man

For you stereo gauge problem I suggest you go to wreckers and get a second plastic bit that fits there what ever that is called

Cut all except the outer rim

Make up what you want out of card board wether it’s just flat or flat for stereo and 2 slightly steped angle bits for gauges

Fibre glass the rear of it

Grind carb board off and sand and mould with bog

    Cut for double din stereo

And hole saw for gauges on the right hand side like you had above pic

Wrap in leather vinal or paint and or what ever you want

    Just a suggestion

    Beautiful looking clubby man

    Thanks for the suggestion mate,

Had a bit of a thought about it, if I was to do the fibreglass/bog option, would I then have to do the section of the centre console, because I would want to achieve the same finish so that it all suited. I don’t really want the console to be black plastic if the upper section is going to be a bog finish, if you know what I mean haha. or will it paint up the same if I just painted both sections together??

I think it is the right idea, because I will have to do something to make the double din fin neatly anyhow.

Are yeah carnt leave it bog finish that would look crap

Would have to either paint it or wrap it in suede, leather, vinal or something

Could get it diped in water transfer graphics

Painting it takes lots of prep work where if you wrap it is a lot easier

And also if you paint it with a can it honestly looks cheap and shit, much better to sand it intensely with 80 or 60 and then prime it and sand off as much as possibly with 280 and repeat till you get to 600 and a 2K paintable surface but if you don’t have a compressor and gravity feed spray gun and painting knowledge this would be a bit of a problem

Well that’s what I done and it’s worked fine for me

Maybe 3D laser scan a standard one, then 3D model the changes that you want and have one machined out of billet :) Would look bloody insane, but cost a mint for the first one…
