    Big Day turned Hippopotamic..

OCD kicked in and I got stuck in a “one more bit loop” before I knew it it was 7:30… DOH.

First challenge was the rear sway bar links I made are too long with the new bendy bar, at half compression the link was hitting the fuel filler pipe, not ideal, tried my stubby front ones, success so shortened the rears to suit.

Then it was tyre clearance time, did the rears on a radius and it looked like arse, as I need to mount mud flaps there anyway thought I’d try a straight line, I like it.

Set up all the shocks near enough and put it on the ground for the first time in a very long time, it has built in anti theft, without power assistance it’s impossible to steer, maybe the Lexcen was the same just never tried it with the 2:1 steering quickener and the 275 front tyres..

Yeah same here Gary, wasn’t sure about the Retro styling at first but really like it now it’s together, it had to be easily repairable and a full custom body kit just isn’t..

The Lexcen Mule is responsible for much of the improvements in the BMW, I managed to find an aluminium seat that will go into the passenger side so can take people for rides again!

Great idea with the passenger seat. Now you can feel what it goes like while I drive.

Went down and cleared up the bomb site that was my shed, then I repaired the hydraulic pump for my hole punch/dimple die, after that I cut and sanded my Tarmac front bar for tyre clearance, enough for today just off to get some supplies..

Done for the day, when I first started planning this build I decided I was going to run a rear diffuser, I was firmly in weight weenie mode and was going to make it in carbon fibre over a foam core..

I was having second thoughts about its longevity at the back being hosed with rocks and the inevitable lack of talent into the scenery…

After a chat with Max last night he bought up the same issues so that was good enough for me, I present my first Diffuser, I almost welded the strakes in but as above it’ll be much easier repaired this way..

Bloody hell mate, I don’t get on here for one day and it’s becoming an F1 car…  Can’t wait to see it on there.  Is there any way you can test it before, or is it a drive and see kind of deal?

It directs the air at the back of the car and helps reduce lift which adds to the downforce Cav..
