Another forward, backward, sideways then forward day, welded up the steering tube then noticed there was a gap around it that would fill the car with dust..

Pulled it all apart and machined it for a o-ring, that’s it the steering is done, tweaked it a bit more and now it’s acceptable..

(I’ll grind up and sand the welds next time the engine is out, had crap access so they’re a bit fugly)

That last shot showing the steering wheel in position looks awesome. At least you are honest enough to show welds less than super model good looking.  Even finger smear some sealant around it to make sure it’s all sealed. It is a race car after all!!  Great work as always .

LoL nothing the 4″ grinder with a flap wheel can’t fix, it’ll be airtight just Fugly as atm..

I rarely hide things, there are times when it just doesn’t make sense to go for a pretty weld, it would’ve taken 3 to 4 hours work to strip the car for that one weld, I can wait till the engine comes out next to tidy up..

Thanks Gary, it’s a bit snug but I’m only a little guy so it should be my new Happy Place…

Advantage of building it to suit one driver, when I built the Lexcen it was going to be a shared drive with an ex-mate that was tall so there were a lot of compromises made..

Got another small job done, fitted up my Hydro then measured up the rear for the LCA’s, cut the tubes and will get them bent up this week.

My Old/ancient compressor suffered a failure, the wheels fell off, both on the motor and pump, a bit of Gumby engineering and it’s going again..

Disappointing, without a full rework of the Cage the Scare Chair isn’t happening sorry, bonus is I can use that real estate to mount a heap of stuff to help offset the Organic Ballast in the Drivers seat..

Good spot for a W2A Tank and pump setup to offset your weight? Or is it better kept in the boot and above the back wheels.

That’s what I’m thinking, the w2a tank, my 3 litre accumulator, my 5 litre fire suppression system and my little battery can all go there..

My day so far… I searched eBay for Dimple Die Kits, found one for $100, thought wow I’ll have that, didn’t read the fine print, turns out it’s just the hydraulic hole punch part…. No dies.

NOT paying $400+ for a set so that was the Bendigo trip yesterday, bit of trial and error I have a working die, just have to make 5 more..

It wasn’t without incident though, my parting off tool isn’t long enough for the big dies so I have to finish up in the bandsaw, while I was doing the second half I thought that’s all I need is to slip and slice my dodgy thumb…

Of course I slipped and sliced my good thumb..
